‍Bloom Southdene has been proudly part of the Kirkby community since 2007, situated right next to St Joseph the Worker RC Primary School. With deep roots in the local area, our setting is truly shaped by the community it serves—many of our team members live locally and even have their own children attending the nursery. This creates a genuine home-from-home atmosphere where families feel comfortable, supported and understood from the very beginning.

‍At Bloom Southdene, we provide a calm, nurturing space where children can thrive through play, discovery and meaningful relationships. Located within the grounds of St Joseph the Worker Primary School, our nursery offers a warm and welcoming environment where curiosity and independence grow side by side. Our recently refreshed indoor spaces have been thoughtfully redesigned to feel natural, cosy and inviting, creating a peaceful environment that both children and staff love spending time in.

‍Our approach is rooted in the EYFS framework, supporting every child’s development across the prime and specific areas of learning. Inspired by the Bloom ethos and the values of bloomchildcare.fun, we place curiosity, creativity and connection at the heart of everything we do. We believe children learn best through play, exploration and strong relationships, so our days are filled with meaningful, hands-on experiences that reflect each child’s interests and stage of development.

‍What you’ll find at Bloom Southdene:

‍Spaces that evolve with your child

‍Babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers each enjoy carefully designed rooms tailored to their age and stage. These spaces encourage confidence, independence and creativity, allowing children to feel secure while exploring new ideas.

‍Indoor-outdoor learning

‍Our amazing outdoor area is a real highlight of the setting and is loved by all our children. It offers endless opportunities for exploration—from sand and water play to planting, building and imaginative adventures. We see the outdoors as an extension of our classroom, supporting physical development, problem-solving and a love of nature.

‍Child-led, purposeful play

‍We follow children’s interests and natural curiosity, supporting their learning through play-based experiences that develop communication, social skills, early maths and literacy, and understanding of the world.

‍Home-from-home baby care

‍Our baby room provides a calm, sensory-rich environment where strong attachments are formed with caring, consistent staff. We work closely with families to ensure routines are followed and each baby feels safe, secure and valued.

‍Early independence

‍As children grow, we gently encourage independence—whether that’s self-serving at mealtimes, choosing their own activities or taking pride in their achievements. These small steps help build confidence and resilience.

‍Strong school partnership

‍Being located within St Joseph the Worker Primary School allows us to support smooth and confident transitions into school life. Children become familiar with the environment, helping them feel ready and excited for their next step.

‍Flexible care & funded places

‍We are open all year round and offer both 15- and 30-hour funded places for eligible families, alongside flexible childcare options to suit a range of needs.

‍Above all, Bloom Southdene is a place where children are encouraged to be themselves, build friendships and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our experienced, caring team are passionate about creating meaningful experiences, supporting every child’s journey and making each day special. We are incredibly proud of our setting and the strong sense of community that makes Bloom Southdene such a special place to grow 🌼
