No-Cook Playdough (Faster & Easier)

This is a simple method that doesn't require heat, though it may not last as long as the cooked version.

Ingredients:

    •    1 cup all-purpose flour

    •    1/2 cup salt

    •    1/2 cup warm water

    •    Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1    In a large bowl, stir together the flour and salt.

2    Add the food coloring to the warm water, if using.

3    Gradually add the colored water to the flour and salt mixture, mixing until a dough forms.

4    Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for a few minutes to get out any lumps and reach a smooth, pliable consistency.

5    Store in an airtight container.

Cooked Playdough (Longer Lasting)

This method uses heat, which helps create a smoother, more durable playdough that can last for months.

Ingredients:

    •    2 cups all-purpose flour

    •    3/4 cup salt

    •    2 cups lukewarm water

    •    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    •    Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1    Combine the flour, salt, and oil in a large pot.

2    Add the water and food coloring, if using.

3    Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly.

4    Continue to stir until the dough begins to thicken and form a ball that sticks together.

5    Remove the pot from the heat, and let the dough cool slightly.

6    Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough on a clean surface until it is smooth and soft.

7    Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
